To be fair, his comment was specifically about Microsoft’s ongoing “this is an Xbox” campaign, which highlights the flexibility of Xbox games being streamed across various devices, including smartphones, TVs, and laptops. However, as the gaming landscape evolves, so does Xbox's strategy. Matt Booty, head of Xbox Game Studios, mentioned in an interview with Variety that the decision to release a game on multiple platforms is made on a “case-by-case basis.” He clarified that these decisions are influenced by the studio's available resources and production timelines, rather than a strict policy on exclusivity.
Looking ahead, the next Xbox title set to launch on PS5 will be Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, with many more potential ports expected in 2025 and beyond. Rumors suggest that titles like Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 could be on the horizon, alongside Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 and possibly even the long-awaited Forza Horizon 5.
