Amy Poehler is set to helm her second Netflix feature film, "Moxie," with Hadley Robinson and Lauren Tsai taking on starring roles.
The project centers on a young woman from a small town (portrayed by Robinson) who draws inspiration from her mother's riot grrrl history and launches a feminist movement within her high school walls.
Robinson brings experience from notable projects including "Little Women," "I'm Thinking of Ending Things," and television work in HBO's Lakers pilot, "Showtime," and "Utopia." Tsai is recognized for her performance in "Legion."
The screenplay adaptation comes from Tamara Chestna, known for "After," who is translating Jennifer Mathieu's novel "Moxie" for the screen.
Production duties fall to Poehler through her Paper Kite banner, alongside Morgan Sackett and Kim Lessing, also representing Paper Kite.
Paper Kite's portfolio includes Netflix's acclaimed series "Russian Doll" and NBC's "Making It," which features Poehler as co-host and is preparing for its sophomore season.
Cameras are scheduled to roll in late October for principal photography.
